Amazon S3 Object Lambda seems like a massive category to deprecate

Yeah, that will greatly impact one of our products. As usual with AWS documentation it's not very clear what the update path seems to be.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/userguide/amazon...

I wonder why they're going that direction too, if anything those lambdas must be making money for them.

At least it’s not S3 triggers for lambdas, just about gave me a heart attack.

oh maybe thats what were using. Made it months ago and im not 100% sure. Lambda on putObject

That sounds like it might be a lambda trigger to me. The feature being deprecated is lambdas that operate at the s3 API level.

Yeah it's an Event Notification that triggers lambda that acts on the bucket, i had to give it permissions to the bucket so i guess it's outside it :). We'll see!

Yeah I agree. We're currently using it to dump images as originals into a bucket at a path.. then the aws lambda function attached generates all the thumbnails.

I think this is similar for anyone who reads a lot of documentation: A 90 minute video explaining documentation and quickstarts can usually be read in 30 minutes and you don't have to constantly pause/restart/rewind.

That subreddit is the new r/dropshipping. I joined to see what fun tooling people were building, and I found it mostly populated with people attempting to setup a "business" with a single feature solution.

It was a giant disappointment to me as well. I guess it’s reasonable that people want something for nothing otherwise the lottery wouldn’t make any money. But it is rather unfortunate that something that could be otherwise a cool community of people making automations is instead just get rich quick schemes. I suppose we could all try building a n8n community that is not focused on get rich quick schemes. But tbh anything I need automated is far easier in python especially when all the connectors in n8n that you may not know the particular python library for (e.g., some Reddit comment aggregator) you can easily convince Claude code to generate for you.

In this case, it sounds like "The code that will most impress your parents"

Why would this be an improvement to using Claude in the terminal? Xcode does not have an integrated terminal.

Weird AL or Weird A.I.?

Question: do web search results that GPT kick back get "read" and backpropagated into the model?

Right now nothing affects the underlying model weights. They are computed once during pretraining at enormous expense, adjusted incrementally during training, and then left untouched until the next frontier model is built.

Being able to adjust the weights will be the next big leap IMO, maybe the last one. It won't happen in real time but periodically, during intervals which I imagine we'll refer to as "sleep." At that point the model will do everything we do, at least potentially.

The high horse of HN generally suggests that every person on the planet does empirical research on every step of their journey through life. I've personally seen several, otherwise normal people, one-shot their brain into purgatory with hallucinogens.

If you ever own a company, you'll find this concept flipped upside down.

True, but having this makes the entire process easier. Organization is key to a speedy and clean audit.
