If that can’t be trusted, can any aspect of the process? Even if a minority of the vote was known, how different would that be from public polling that also represent a slice of the electorate (which also is likely not 100% representative of the actual results.)

Well at the point I think everyone knows that polls can be way off.

Of course a small sample of votes is likely to be too, but we aren’t talking about statistical inference here, we talking about political perception.
