I haven't heard of any solid reasons not to support a Land Value Tax beyond the fact that it would upset tons of current land owners if done incorrectly.
Does anyone have any reasons why a Land Value Tax would be worse form of taxation than a Property Tax? Everything I read seems to be in favor of Land Value Taxes, but I just want to make sure I'm not only reading things in an echo chamber.
Edit: After some reading, it seems like the negatives I can find are that if people make improvements on their land, nearby land also increases in value, thus raising taxes for people who don't have the means to make improvements. But this doesn't seem like a great counter-point, because then those land owners who have increased taxes are more likely to sell (likely at a profit) to someone willing to redevelop the land and make further improvements.
