More blatant lobbying from Washington through CEPA.

"Privately, officials from these countries say the Commission’s strategy will hamper innovation by imposing complex compliance rules on smaller companies that can’t afford to implement them."

"While these concerns are rarely aired publicly, simply put, Central and Northern Europe know that when it comes to tech, the EU doesn’t speak for Europe."

Speak for yourself and your anonymous "sources".

"And as the Commission shows no sign of slowing down on its regulatory agenda, it’s these smaller countries that will then bear the greatest economic risk."

Based on what exactly?

"Additionally, it’s time for Washington to wake up and realize that tech policy isn’t solely in the EU’s purview, and work to engage with European countries bilaterally as well."

Seems like an attempt to attack the EU's unity. Note that you cannot bypass EU law with bilateral agreements.
